Saturday May 24th was the second of two club trail maintenance days.
The turn out was slightly smaller with 10 volunteers showing up.
The group was
enthusiastic and tackled two trails in tough shape, K1 and K2.
K2 had not been ridden in many years due to a substantial amount of
blow-down.
However by the end of the day the trail was restored to riding
condition.
On the other side of the creek K1 had experience a major wash-out.
Due to
some fine work by Dan & Jordan Kaleta the trail is now ridable.
According to Dan it
still needs a little work and the club plans on doing that in the coming
week.
When is the next trail
maintenance day?
Currently there are no other planned maintenance days. However
according to
club president Lee Crowe we could use at least one more. Please
check
back often for updated details.
Thanks to all the volunteers who helped to clean up our trails!
The
National Commuter Challenge takes place June 1-7th
"Commuter
Challenge is a national program that encourages Canadians to walk,
cycle, take transit, carpool or tele-work instead of driving alone to
work. The Challenge supports workplaces as they encourage their
employees to leave their cars at home for their personal health, the
health of their communities and the health of the environment.
Individual Canadians can participate too."
The Quesnel Commuter Challenge will take place June 6th. You can read more about Quesnel's challenge at this website or in this Cariboo Observer article.

On Wednesday May 14th 2008 Cycle Logic sponsored the video premier of Seasons, a film by The Collective
This mountain biking video was shown at the UNBC campus in Quesnel. The premier was a success with over 47 cyclists attending. As the sponsor of the event, Cycle Logic was on hand to give away free pop and plenty of 'swag' to riders attending.
With all the precedes going to the Gold Rush Cycling Club we'd like to thank Cycle Logic for their support and the many great door prizes. As well we'd like to acknowledge the help given to the club by UNBC and their staff.
" Seasons is a film that follows 7 of the world's top mountain bikers through the course of 4 seasons of one year. The film explores what it means to be a full time rider as told through the lives of downhill racers, slopestyle competitors, and big mountain freeriders."
We'd like to thank Charlie Freeman for submitting his mountain biking
video from last year.
We look forward to seeing what he does next.
We'd love to post your biking videos so get those cameras
rolling!
The road riders group will be putting together a time trials during the last Thursday road ride of each month. If you'd like to participate be sure to stop by Cycle Logic and ask John for the details.

We'd like to thank Bahadur and the River Rock Pub &
Steakhouse
for providing a warm place for cold post ride beverages.
"Your deck has the best view in town!"
